What is the most used word in the world?

We almost always use a word that we all surely know: It's the word "ok".

Although we all use it, few people know the origins of the word, or what it originally meant. The word "ok" means "agree" these days.

There are several variants of the appearance of the word OK.

1. It is said that during the war in Great Britain, troops returning from the war displayed a placard that read 0k (0 killed).

2. Another version suggests that this word is a combination of the initials of the words "oll korect" which was a slang of the 1830.

3. The word "O.K." appeared as a joke in The Boston Morning Post in 1839. Martin Van Buren, the eighth president of the US, popularized the term through his supporters, the "OK Club," from "Old Kinderhook," his nickname. Some sources suggest that Van Buren used "OK" as a signature, and his campaign slogan "Vote for OK" was more catchy than his Dutch name.

4. Woodrow Wilson in 1919 claimed that the term came from the Choctaw language and rewrote it as "okeh", which later became "okay". Cyrus Byington's 1915 Dictionary of the Choctaw Language confirms this theory, defining "okeh" as "it is so and in no other way."

5. Allen Walker published in 1963-1964 a series of articles in the "American Journal of Speech" on the spread and evolution of the word "O.K." in American newspapers and other documents. In Boston around 1838, abbreviations were all the rage in newspapers, including "O.W." for "oll wright".

6. Other theories suggest older origins, including the Amerindian word "okeh".

7. Charles Gordon Greene discovered many occurrences of the term in books and newspapers of the time. It was usually accompanied by explanations such as "all correct" or "oll korrect", but sometimes appeared without explanation, indicating that it was well known to readers.
